THANK YOU!

Brassfield is the absolute BEST school community on the planet. Hands down. No question. Mr. Shillings, Mr. Wall, and I enjoyed an incredible Principals' Appreciation Day. Thank you, thank you, thank you to our entire Brassfield family! It's very easy to come to work every single day, when our work is the future. : )

Lockdown Drill

The safety and welfare of our students is our number one priority at Brassfield. Our building has a comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan in place, and in order to familiarize our school community with their roles and responsibilities associated with this plan, we will be conducting a Lockdown drill this week. This will be a collaborative effort among Brassfield faculty and staff, the WCPSS' Security Department, and local law enforcement.

Our Mission. Brassfield's Story.

At our Student Showcase last Tuesday, I asked our families to raise their hands if they knew our mission at Brassfield. When not one person raised a hand, I knew that I had to do something to communicate the driving force behind our learning and teaching. Check out what Brassfield learners have to say about our great school...

Single Subject Acceleration Parent Meetings Announced

SSA Parent Information Sessions
Come join us to learn about this option for acceleration of student learning!
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities.  SSA is an accelerative practice that allows students to show mastery of the content of a course without having taken the course.  For example, a parent could nominate his/her child to skip a grade level of content in either Language Arts OR Mathematics.

What is the process for Single Subject Acceleration?
Parents can get a nomination form from their school or through the online site listed below.  Once nominated, you will be contacted by your school to talk further about the assessment process and the program’s logistics.

How do I learn more?

#MarchGladness Newsletter

Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. -Seneca

Dear Brassfield Families,

Hidden within the blustering snow and frequent school cancelations that were delivered to us throughout the gloomy days of February, came the unique and invaluable gift of compulsory time at home; time to make pancakes and time to read, time to build snowmen and time to laugh, time to think imaginatively and time to reflect. What an incredible gift - quite the stroke of good luck.

It is the finest of good fortune that affords me the privilege to serve the Brassfield community each and every day. I am so proud of the tenacity and integrity that fuels the learning and teaching at our wonderful school. It is an incredible honor to watch our students think critically, investigate, experiment, problem solve, and engage in collaborative processes in order to achieve their learning goals. The greatest joy, however, comes in knowing that every day our children are one step closer to fulfilling their own dreams, that the best is yet to come. Amazing.

Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions. -Einstein
