Please join me in welcoming the Class of 2026 to our Brassfield family. Wow, 2026!
As I wrote last year at this time, someday is today at Brassfield. Our students are critical thinkers, digital engineers, dreamers, entrepreneurs, and gamers whose learning needs continue to shape and reshape best instructional practices and the process of learning and teaching at our school.
In your child’s classroom, direct, explicit instruction will balance tacit learning opportunities in which your child will experiment, investigate, and problem solve. Our goal is to cultivate and develop learners who are eager to acquire new knowledge, who are equipped with a solid academic foundation, and who are prepared to embark on innovative learning endeavors in a world characterized by constant change.
Community involvement is an invaluable resource at our wonderful school, and we excitedly welcome volunteers to support our classrooms as much as possible.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures for 2014-2015
Our instructional day begins promptly at 9:15 a.m. In order to ensure that all students are appropriately supervised by faculty and staff on duty, students may arrive to school no earlier than 8:45 a.m. Please utilize our carpool in the front parking lot. The back parking lot is reserved only for contract vehicles and/or families who have obtained prior administrative approval.
The Brassfield Safety Patrol & our BTV Crew may arrive no sooner than 8:30 a.m. Students must enter the building at our main entrance.
The school day concludes at 3:45 p.m., at which time students are released to their designated transportation zones; Busers - Multi-Purpose Room, Carpoolers - Learning Commons, and Walkers and YMCA - Cafeteria.
Bus dismissal times are posted on Twitter, @BrassfieldBuses, and may also be found our website. As a friendly reminder, the WCPSS requires all kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students to have an adult present at the bus stop in order for drop-off to occur. Children without an adult waiting at the bus stop will be returned to school.
Families who reside within 3 miles of Brassfield Road Elementary, and who choose to walk or bike to school, are eligible to register as ‘Walkers.’ All vehicles will be required to utilize our carpool.
Early Student Check-Out
In order to protect your child's instructional time at school, any parent and/or guardian who is checking out a student prior to Brassfield's regularly scheduled 3:45 p.m. dismissal time, must do so by 3:15 p.m. After 3:15 p.m., parents or guardians will be required to utilize our carpool. Please consider this policy when scheduling appointments for your child after school. Similarly, on WCPSS Early Release Days, after 12:45 p.m., parents or guardians will be required to utilize our carpool.
Parents and guardians who are already on campus to volunteer in their child’s classroom and/or to attend a classroom event may check out their child directly from his/her classroom. If a parent has multiple children at our school, sibling names may be provided to our main office staff prior to 3:15 p.m. At the 3:45 p.m. dismissal bell, siblings will be released to their parent’s designated volunteer location.
- Only utilize the designated carpool in our front parking lot.
- Carpool tags must be hung in the rearview mirror.
- No handheld cell phone use, please.
